Formed around a core of Veteran Troops and armed with the new StG44, the Volksgrenadiers head to battle in defense of their homeland! After suffering a double loss (both Army group Center in Operation Bagration, and the Fifth Panzer Army to the Allies in Normandy) the German Army created some 78 Volksgrenadier divisions from Autumn 1944 onwards. Volksgrenadier divisions participated in the Battle of the Bulge, the defense of the Siegfried Line and Eastern Front, and in the final battles in Germany. Volksgrenadier divisions should not be confused with the Volkssturm, which is an entirely different, ill equiped, old, unfit, and young type of unit. Several Volksgrenadier divisions, especially those made up of "jobless" Wehrmacht personnel drawn from the Kriegsmarine and the Luftwaffe, displayed high motivation and morale which resulted in surprisingly good cohesion and military effectiveness against the combined Allied armies.

The savage battles of the Eastern Front and the bitter city-fighting over the ruins of Stalingrad turned raw German recruits into hardened veterans in mere weeks. Forged in the crucible of battle, these men had learned to survive and fight in the harshest conditions imaginable, and their experience was invaluable in combat. Utilising a wide variety of specialist equipment, and with a definite focus on close-quarters battle, these German Veteran Infantry are a force to be reckoned with on the Bolt Action tabletop. This box contains 30 infantry models with a wide range of weapons and equipment, suitable for building a wide variety of troop types from every period and theatre of World War Two in which the Germans participated. Each frame includes Kar 98 rifles, MP40 and captured Russian submachine guns, a Luger and flare pistol, two MG34 light machine guns with ammunition boxes, a GrB-39 grenade launcher, an anti-tank rifle & a flamethrower! Plenty of headgear options, such as helmeted, bareheaded and field officer's caps, are included, and there are plenty of accessories for specialist troop types and commanders. You also get three 60mm round bases, allowing to assemble medium machine gun and other weapons teams. Also Included are wall sections and bricks, perfect for adding characterful details to miniature bases and creating dioramas. The following units from Armies of Germany can be assembled:
