The Skoda-designed 100/17 Modello 14 was medium howitzer that contributed to much of the Italians’ artillery strength. As a whole, Italian artillery was a piecemeal collection from a previous era, although crewmen were well trained and made the most of the guns they served. The bravery of the Italian artillerymen on the Eastern Front was legendary, often firing over open sights at the approaching enemy in an attempt to stem the Soviet tide.

Highly trained marksmen and superbly fit soldiers, the Bersaglieri (sharpshooter) were easily identified by their helmets, sporting large black capercaillie feathers. As light infantry troops they were encouraged to have a greater level of independence and initiative than the regular Italian army troops and this élan served them well during the war.
During World War II the Bersaglieri became a focal point of Italy's push towards mobile warfare. Several units of these highly motivated, aggressive troops were equipped with bicycles or motorcycles to fight alongside the Italian armoured and motorised divisions.

The 47/32 was a licensed Austrian light artillery piece that primarily served in an anti-tank role. When firing HEAT (High Explosive Anti-Tank) rounds, the 47/32 was an effective anti-tank platform in the earlier stages of the war. With a low silhouette (made even lower by the removal of its wheels, a common practice) and relative high mobility, the Elefantino proved itself in battle time and again.

With typical Italian panache the Bersaglieri, with their helmets sporting the distinctive black capercaillie feathers, were easy to identify on the battlefield. These were no popinjays, however, as these elite marksmen were a tough proposition to face on the field of battle.
This support group provides stylish officers along with a medic treating his wounded colleague and a spotter who can be used as an attendant radio operator for your commander. Providing suppressing firepower are the workhorse medium machine gun of the Italian armed forces, the Breda Modello 37 and the robust 81mm Modello 35 medium mortar providing indirect fire capability.
