Black Powder: Napoleonic British Line Infantry (Waterloo)

    , ,
At the decisive battle of Waterloo, redcoated British foot regiments, supported by their massed artillery and the noble cavalrymen, battled the rain and the mud as well as the hated French. Their Prussian Allies struggled to join with them, only reaching the fields of Waterloo late on Sunday 18th June. Sir Arthur Wellesley, Duke of Wellington, rooted his Allied army to the ridge at Waterloo for over nine hours as Bonaparte’s French threw everything at them. The steadfast British veterans of the Peninsular campaign served their King and country well once more and with the Prussians taking to the field before nightfall, the day was won for the Allies and the brilliant Bonaparte’s reign of terror was finally ended. Contains:
    • 20 plastic easy-build British Line Infantry.
    • 4 metal command miniatures: officer, drummer and two ensigns with wire flagpoles and finials.
    • 2-page background guide including fourteen full-colour flags.

    Black Powder French Napoleonic Hussars

    Black Powder: French Napoleonic Hussars

    , ,
Napoleonic warfare saw bewildering varieties of exotic uniforms worn by the various armies that marched and fought in the early 19th century. There were none so exotic and magnificent as the Hussar regiments of the French army. These dashing light cavalry donned outfits originally inspired by Turkish, and later Hungarian, cavalry. Each of the fourteen regiments formed wore a differing uniform, with the result that a Hussar brigade made a most impressive sight. Mounted on small but tough horses, they were used on campaign in scouting and raiding roles. Their élan and dash made up for their smaller mounts and lack of armour on the field of battle. Principally armed with the curved light cavalry sabre they could also carry a carbine, or more commonly a pistol, into the fray. Box set Contains:
    • 12 plastic easy-build French Hussars.
    • 1 additional metal officer and metal horse.
    • 1 additional metal bugler.
    • Optional metal arm for eagle bearer.
Original price was: £27.50.Current price is: £21.99.

Black Powder French Napoleonic Chasseurs a Cheval
Black Powder French Napoleonic Chasseurs a Cheval

Black Powder: French Napoleonic Chasseurs a Cheval

    , ,
Formed originally back in 1743, the Chasseurs à Cheval (mounted hunters) were hard riding, green clad light cavalry whose main role was patrolling and raiding for the French armies. A good Chasseur was at home on his light horse, skirmishing with the enemy cavalry or scouting enemy movements and thus providing valuable intelligence for their commanders. Armed with carbine, curved sabre and bayonet (an item disliked by the cavalrymen who used it to dig up vegetables or ‘lost’ it on campaign) the Chasseurs were most happy in the saddle, although they were also trained to fight on foot should the need arise. Contains:
    • 12 plastic easy-build French Light Cavalry
    • 1 metal officer and horse
    • Optional metal parts to make a trumpeter and eagle bearer
    • Includes options for shako, oilskin covered shakos and the elite company Colpack fur hat.

Bolt Action Luftwaffe Field Division Squad
Bolt Action Luftwaffe Field Division Squad

Bolt Action: Luftwaffe Field Division Squad

    , ,
After the the initial spectacular success of the German invasion of Russia in 1941 the invasion slowed to a crawl as the weather and hard fighting ground down their formations. Desperate to shore up the front seven regiments were formed of non-flying personnel taken from the German air force, the Luftwaffe. These regiments were equipped with standard infantry weapons, and sent to quieter areas of the front to gain experience. As the war continued more and more Luftwaffe personnel were drafted into what became Luftwaffe Field Divisions, 21 divisions being formed with 12,500 men in each at full strength. They wore the trademark Luftwaffe blue/grey uniforms and many also donned the long camouflaged M1942 jacket or zeltbahn tent capes. Despite their poor levels of training, they fought bravely in Normandy, in Italy and on the Russian front. The average age of the soldier in these units was 30 years old - much older than other front line troops. These difficulties led them to take more casualties than the regular army units but despite these shortcomings Luftwaffe Field Division troops earned 18 of the coveted Knights Cross medals in the three years that they saw service. Contains a 10-man Luftwaffe Field Division Squad:
    • 1 NCO and two soldiers with SMGs
    • 1 MG13 LMG team
    • 2 Riflemen with Panzerfausts
    • 3 riflemen

    Bolt Action German Volksgrenadier Squad

    Bolt Action: German Volksgrenadier Squad

    , ,
Formed around a core of Veteran Troops and armed with the new StG44, the Volksgrenadiers head to battle in defense of their homeland! After suffering a double loss (both Army group Center in Operation Bagration, and the Fifth Panzer Army to the Allies in Normandy) the German Army created some 78 Volksgrenadier divisions from Autumn 1944 onwards. Volksgrenadier divisions participated in the Battle of the Bulge, the defense of the Siegfried Line and Eastern Front, and in the final battles in Germany. Volksgrenadier divisions should not be confused with the Volkssturm, which is an entirely different, ill equiped, old, unfit, and young type of unit. Several Volksgrenadier divisions, especially those made up of "jobless" Wehrmacht personnel drawn from the Kriegsmarine and the Luftwaffe, displayed high motivation and morale which resulted in surprisingly good cohesion and military effectiveness against the combined Allied armies.

Bolt Action Fallschirmjäger WWII German Airborne
Bolt Action Fallschirmjäger WWII German Airborne

Bolt Action: Fallschirmjäger (WWII German Airborne)

    , ,
The world's first paratroopers to be used in large numbers, the German Fallschirmjager were at the tip of the spear when war broke out in 1939. They led daring assaults on strategic targets, such as the fortress at Eben Emael, enabling the following panzers to overrun Europe. As a paratrooper force the Fallschirmjager's greatest achievement would be the intense fighting they performed as they seized Crete in the face of more numerous British and Commonwealth forces during 1941. This pyrrhic victory meant that they were never again used en masse. Small units still operated by glider and parachute, famously rescuing Italian leader Mussolini, and raiding behind American lines in the Ardennes. Their finest hour would undoubtly be the bitter fighting as they occupied the monastery at Monte Cassino for months in the face of overwhelming odds, earning themselves the nickname 'Green Devils'. The German Paratroopers were arguably the toughest in a tough army. Warlord Games Fallschirmjager miniatures are ideally suited for battles in North West Europe and can also be used in actions on the Russian Front.

    Bolt Action: Blitzkrieg German Infantry

    , ,
Representing the classic image of the German infantryman during World War II, these miniatures are equipped with knee-high jackboots, unadorned 'coalscuttle' helmet and a martial discipline that took them to almost complete dominance of mainland Europe. Whilst the glory often went to the armoured knights of the panzer divisions, the infantry were the spine of the Wehrmacht. Germany's cunning use of Blitzkrieg tactics conquered Poland, swept through the Low Countries and defeated France, before turning their attention to the Soviet Union. Soviet forces were pushed all the way to Moscow as the relentless march of Hitler's landsers swept all before them. Well-led, superbly trained and equipped with the finest infantry weapons in the world, the German infantryman was a skilled and dangerous foe capable of thinking for themselves if needed, giving them a significant advantage over their foes. Vorwarts! Blitzkrieg German Infantry contains:
    • Enough plastic components to make 30 German infantry miniatures - Including a host of options to allow for different weapon configurations and command models.
    • Weapons included: Kar 98K rifle, MP38/MP40 sub-machine gun, Luger pistol, MG34 light machine gun, Kar 98K with attached bayonet, stick grenades, scoped Kar 98K rifle.

Bolt Action German Sd.Kfz 251/2 Ausf D (8cm Granatwerfer) Half Track

Bolt Action: German Sd.Kfz 251/2 Ausf D (8cm Granatwerfer) Half Track

    , ,
From the early stages of World War II, the German army began to equip their Panzergrenadiers with armoured half-tracks that would support their panzers in action. They developed the excellent Sd.Kfz 251 series, made by Hanomag, and steadily produced them in their thousands, with over twenty versions seeing service in most theatres of the war. One of the most useful variants was the 8cm Granatwerfer – a version of the Hanomag carrying the standard infantry mortar. The mortar could be moved around the battlefield quickly and in reasonable safety, its armour shrugging off most infantry weapons and shrapnel. The mortar was most commonly removed from the half-track to engage the enemy, however, in extremis, it could fire from the safety of the vehicle. A full load of 66 rounds of 81mm mortar rounds were carried, with more shells available from supply trucks or towed trailers. This model represents the 251/2 Ausf D version of the vehicle (it had a simplified armour shape from the earlier Ausf C, particularly obvious was the sloped rear Armour) that was in use from 1943 onwards in most theatres. This variant featured a forward-facing 81mm mortar in the rear, tactically spot on for attacking and moving position frequently.

    , ,
    This set contains:
    • 1 x Soviet HQ
    • 1 x Soviet Medium Machine Gun Team
    • 1 x Soviet Medium Mortar Team
Soviet HQ Soviet operational leadership improved immeasurably over time, but the heavy casualties endured by the Red Army indicates that overall battlefield control remained a blunt instrument. A great reliance was placed on forward planning, timetables and pre-set objectives to overcome shortcomings. An officer unit consists of the officer himself and can include up to two other men acting as his immediate attendants. Soviet officers can be rated as Inexperienced, Regular or Veteran. Soviet Medium Mortar Team The standard Russian medium mortar of the war was the 82- PM-41 or 82mm battalion mortar Model 1941. This served alongside the otherwise similar 82mm Model 1937. Both were very effective and accurate weapons with a range of about 3,000 yards. 82mm mortars were regarded as artillery rather than infantry weapons by the Russians and were usually massed together in batteries for battalion-level support. Soviet Medium Machine Gun Team The Red Army used the venerable Maxim Model 1910 as its medium machine gun throughout the war, the very same weapon that had served the Tsarist army in World War I. It was a capable weapon that could be tripod-, sledge- or wheelmounted and was often given a useful shield to help preserve the crew. The Maxim was so heavy and cumbersome, however, that, unlike most other Soviet weapons, the Germans seldom made use of captured examples. The Maxim was slowly replaced by the newer, lighter but equally effective SG43 model machine gun, which was also usually deployed on a small, wheeled mount with a gun shield.

Black Powder: British Line Infantry (Peninsular War)

    , ,
Widely held as the finest body of fighting men to have fought under the Union flag, the British army in the Peninsular campaign tasted defeat but were far more often to be found savouring yet another victory over their old foe, the French. Led by great commanders such as Moore, Crauford and Wellesley, the British army was a well-drilled and, on the whole, disciplined force that saw service on the Iberian Peninsula from 1808 until the end of the campaign in 1814. The redcoated British foot regiments were ably supported by their Portugese, Spanish and German allies in addition to their countrymen in the cavalry and artillery. This multi-national force subjected defeat after defeat on Bonaparte's French, bringing such battle honours as Vitoria, Salamanca, Talavera, and the brutal siege of Badajoz into British military legend.
