Bolt Action French Army Support Group

Bolt Action: French Army Support Group

    , ,
The French army started World War II as the most powerful army in the world. Well-equipped, with excellent tanks and artillery, the infantry divisions were numerous and confident of fighting off the hated Boche as they had twenty two years before. This was not the same war though, and the French infantrymen found themselves all too often fighting off German armoured units which had outmanoeuvred them as the Blitzkrieg rolled across Europe. This pack is a great way to supplement your Bolt Action French Army, with dependable HQ choices as well as an 81mm Mortar and an aged yet dependable MMG in the form of a Hotchkiss MMG. Contains:
    • 2 officers
    • 1 Medic
    • 1 Forward Observer
    • 1 medium mortar team
    • 1 MMG Team
    • Bases

Bolt Action French Resistance Weapons Teams
Bolt Action French Resistance Weapons Teams

Bolt Action: French Resistance Weapons Teams

    , ,
Infantry weapons teams are a key component of any Bolt Action army, providing as they do great tactical flexibility for your force. Sniper teams, light mortar teams and anti-tank teams are among the most prevalent, presenting your opponent with multiple challenges to overcome. A Sniper Team in a Partisan Bolt Action army represents anything from an untrained civilian out for revenge on the occupiers to a seasoned hunter that has decided to join the resistance. Like most weapons used by the partisans, light mortars were often captured examples and short of ammunition. Light mortars were also relatively easy to supply by airdrops. For most partisans, mortars were too precious a resource to waste, and they were usually saved for just the right moment to surprise the enemy and pin them down as fighters advanced towards their targets. Partisans had little in the way of anti-tank weaponry. Fortunately, most of the heavier armour of the occupying forces was at the front line, and thus it was mostly outdated and lightly armed vehicles were used for security duty in occupied territory. PIAT anti-tank launchers were amongst some of the heavier gear that could be airdropped or smuggled through enemy lines for use by partisan forces. Contains three Bolt Action Order Dice and the following Warlord Resin Plus figures:
    • 2-man Light Mortar team
    • 2-man Sniper team
    • 2-man PIAT team

Bolt Action: French Resistance Light Artillery

    , ,
The most useful kinds of light artillery were often mountain guns, as these were more easily moved about and could be disassembled and carried by mules if necessary. All kinds of artillery would be used. The old World War I French 75mm field gun was one of the most common artillery pieces used by many nations at the start of the war, and no doubt a number fell into the hands of partisan forces. Blister pack contains metal gun and crew.

    Bolt Action: French Resistance Squad

    , ,
The exceptional men and women of the French Resistance were fiercely patriotic citizens who risked everything to fight back against the occupying German Forces. From sowing disinformation or assassinating German personnel and collaborators, to direct attacks on German infrastructure, they prevented thousands of German troops from fighting the Allies on the frontlines. Armed with captured German weaponry, Allied supplied guns and their own local shotguns and hunting rifles, the Maquis made good use of their intimate knowledge of their homeland to keep the German forces on guard, unsure where or when the next guerilla attack would come. The figures in this set represent the partisans of the French Forces of the Interior (FFI), but are equally suitable for most resistance forces, be they in Poland, the Soviet Union or many of the other countries living under the heel of Germany's jackboot. Contains:
    • 10 metal French Resistance models, plastic weapons sprue and plastic bases

Black Powder: Napoleonic British Rocket Bombarding Frame 2

    , ,
Destruction and flames from on high – that’s the Congreve style, and it’s a powerful addition to your British Black powder force! Designed by Sir William Congreve in 1808, based on rockets captured from the Indian state of Mysore, the eponymous Congreve rocket consisted of a sheet-iron tube filled with gunpowder, tipped with an explosive shell, and mounted on a long wooden rod. These would be fired from racks or frames, and while somewhat unreliable and at times frighteningly inaccurate, they had the great advantage of being both powerful, terrifying, and far easier to transport and supply than the equivalent battery of cannon. Used in increasing numbers throughout the Napoleonic Wars, they would grow in size and capability into a truly deadly weapon. This brave rocketeer and his fiendish devices are ready to rain fire and terror on the foes of your British Black Powder force – if he can score a hit! This pack contains one Rocket Bombarding Frame with four crew, cast in metal.

Black Powder: Napoleonic Spanish Horse Artillery with 8-pdr

Bring firepower to bear at short notice with this mobile light gun for your Spanish Black Powder collection! Heirs to a long and proud martial tradition, Spain would initially be France’s ally in the early Napoleonic Wars before being occupied by the French in 1808, with Joseph Bonaparte installed as a puppet king. With the majority of Spaniards rejecting French rule, and fighting bitterly against it, the Spanish army would see significant service alongside their British allies. A key part of this army was the artillery. ‘Horse’ artillery, consisting of highly mobile light guns, was intended to race across the battlefield to wherever it was needed, often proving decisive in defeating enemy assaults or supporting attacks. An essential part of any Spanish Black Powder force, this 8-pdr gun is ready to deploy on your tabletop when it’s needed most! This pack contains one 8-pdr gun with four crew, cast in metal.

    This set contains:
    • 1 x British Airborne HQ
    • 1 x Field Medic
    • 1 x British Airborne Medium Machine Gun Team
    • 1 x British Airborne Medium Mortar Team
HQ The middle ranks of officers were almost invariably drawn from the upper-middle classes: educated in the public schools, instilled with the values of empire, and imbued with a sense of confidence, duty and resolve that is difficult to conceive of today. An officer unit consists of the man himself and can include up to two other men acting as his immediate attendants. Field Medic The field medic presents the wounded soldier with his best chance of surviving serious injury and can ensure those lightly wounded soldiers are returned to fighting fitness as rapidly as possible. Medium Machine Gun Team A .303 Vickers water-cooled machine gun offered fire support to infantry units. This was another weapon of World War I vintage that soldiered on through World War II and beyond, proving extremely effective at laying down continuous fire over a long range. A typical team consisted of a lance corporal gunner, a loader and an ammunition bearer. Medium Mortar Team The 3-inch mortar was used to provide support from up to 3,000 yards dependent upon the projectile used. The 3-inch mortar was operated by a crew of 3.

Black Powder: Napoleonic Spanish Infantry 1st Battalion (1805-1811)

    , ,
Napoleon Bonaparte's seemingly invincible French army suffered their first defeat of the Napoleonic Wars at the hands of the Spanish Army at Baylen in 1808. This was arguably the zenith of the Spanish army’s achievements during the wars. History has not looked back favourably on the armies of Spain during the Napoleonic Wars. They suffered many defeats but also pinned down huge numbers of French troops in a vicious war that sapped the strength of innumerable French units only too glad to leave a country where they were so hated. Although the vicious Spanish guerrillas wreaked havoc upon their French foes the Spanish regulars also caused thousands of casualties on their home soil. Box Contains:

    • Background leaflet with 12 full-colour flags
    • Plastic Bases

Black Powder Chosen Men British 95th Rifles

Black Powder: Chosen Men – British 95th Rifles

    , ,
The 95th Rifles were an elite unit of hard marching, sharp shooting light infantry that served in many bloody battles of the Napoleonic Wars. Unusually they did not wear the classic red coat of the British army, but instead a dark bottle green uniform which gave them their nickname of the ‘Sweeps’ or the ‘Grasshoppers’ by their French foes. They were equipped with the Baker rifle – a supremely accurate weapon for the period – which would hit single targets at ranges unheard of for the smoothbore muskets which most other troops carried. They earned a superb reputation in the Peninsular campaign and later at Waterloo, being battalions that Wellington could rely upon. To help maintain the effectiveness of the companies, reliable and trusted men would be issued with a white tape around the arm distinguishing them as ‘chosen men’ and expected to inspire the rank and file. To make up for the short length of their rifles, they were issued with wicked looking sword bayonets, long enough to give a parity against an enemy bayonet.
