Escape the Dark Castle: Blight of the Plague Lord Expansion
From the deepest, long-forgotten passageways, to the vaulted eaves of the highest towers – there you will find his creation. For he is the Plague Lord – a monstrous, sentient mass of weeping pustules, proud emanator of an all-encompassing evil. It would be his most perverse pleasure to watch as you slowly succumb to the agonising torment of the Plague…
NB: To use this expansion you need a copy of Escape the Dark Castle.
- 1 New Boss: The Plague Lord, gaining strength as his infection grows
- 15 New Chapters: His deranged followers, and new castle locations
- 3 New Characters: Versatile new prisoners ready to join the quest
- 3 Character Dice: Representing the new prisoner’s endowment of skills
- 5 New Items: Vital new equipment for prisoners to discover in the depths
- 1 Plague Dice: Used to control the contraction and spread of this vile disease
Along with fifteen new castle locations, three new playable prisoners, and a new boss, this expansion for Escape the Dark Castle introduces an entirely new mechanic to the system – Plague! Prisoners will now encounter Carriers – plague-infected lunatics bent on spreading the disease. Quickview Board Games, Card & Dice Games, Role-Playing GamesEscape the Dark Castle is a casual, cooperative adventure game with a focus on atmosphere, player cooperation, and fun. Designed with newcomers to tabletop gaming in mind, it takes 2 minutes to set up, lasts around 30 minutes, and no two games are ever the same. 1-4 players take the roles of prisoners on a quest to Escape the Dark Castle, and must work together to overcome its many horrors, traps, and challenges - each of which is represented by a large, beautifully illustrated chapter card. As these immersive chapter cards are revealed one by one, the game takes on the form of a shared storybook experience, with the players making decisions about what to do each chapter before using a combination of dice and item cards to complete challenges. The goal of the game is for the group to complete every chapter in the 15-card castle deck, and then defeat the final boss. To win, they must keep every member of the team alive - if any player is killed the game ends immediately and all players lose. Escape the Dark Castle is largely inspired by 80s fantasy classics like the TV programme Knightmare, the Fighting Fantasy gamebook series, Dungeons & Dragons, and Heroquest. > Read our Escape The Dark Castle Game Review
