Bolt Action: German Heer Winter Weapons Teams

    , ,
Infantry weapons teams are a key component of any Bolt Action army, providing as they do great tactical flexibility for your force. Sniper teams, anti-tank teams and flamethrower teams are among the most prevalent, presenting your opponent with multiple challenges to overcome. The Panzerschreck was a German development of the American bazooka, first encountered in North Africa, firing a large calibre shaped-charge rocket projectile. The back-blast from the weapon was so intense that early teams wore protective capes and masks – later a blast shield was fitted to the weapon giving it a distinctive appearance. The Panzerschreck and disposable anti-tank Panzerfaust had replaced the Panzerbüchse 39 anti-tank rifle by 1944. During the battle of Stalingrad, Russian snipers took such a heavy toll upon the beleaguered Wehrmacht that the Germans began to train and equip their own marksmen to undertake a specialist role as snipers. A variety of rifles were used for sniping, including the standard KAR-98K and the semi-automatic Gewehr 43, all fitted with the high quality ZF39 telescopic sight, and equipped with precision-manufactured ammunition. Flamethrowers – Flammenwerfer – were used through the war and were often employed against buildings or fortifications. During the latter part of the war, the Germans produced a lighter, smaller design that carried enough fuel for a single burst – effectively a one-shot flamethrower –the Eintossflammenwerfe. It is not known, however, whether this weapon was actually ever employed. Contains the following Warlord Resin Plus figures:
    • 2-man Panzerschreck team
    • 2-man Sniper team
    • 2-man Flamethrower team

Bolt Action: French Army Support Group

    , ,
The French army started World War II as the most powerful army in the world. Well-equipped, with excellent tanks and artillery, the infantry divisions were numerous and confident of fighting off the hated Boche as they had twenty two years before. This was not the same war though, and the French infantrymen found themselves all too often fighting off German armoured units which had outmanoeuvred them as the Blitzkrieg rolled across Europe. This pack is a great way to supplement your Bolt Action French Army, with dependable HQ choices as well as an 81mm Mortar and an aged yet dependable MMG in the form of a Hotchkiss MMG. Contains:

Infantry weapons teams are a key component of any Bolt Action army, providing as they do great tactical flexibility for your force. Sniper teams, light mortar teams and anti-tank teams are among the most prevalent, presenting your opponent with multiple challenges to overcome. A Sniper Team in a Partisan Bolt Action army represents anything from an untrained civilian out for revenge on the occupiers to a seasoned hunter that has decided to join the resistance. Like most weapons used by the partisans, light mortars were often captured examples and short of ammunition. Light mortars were also relatively easy to supply by airdrops. For most partisans, mortars were too precious a resource to waste, and they were usually saved for just the right moment to surprise the enemy and pin them down as fighters advanced towards their targets. Partisans had little in the way of anti-tank weaponry. Fortunately, most of the heavier armour of the occupying forces was at the front line, and thus it was mostly outdated and lightly armed vehicles were used for security duty in occupied territory. PIAT anti-tank launchers were amongst some of the heavier gear that could be airdropped or smuggled through enemy lines for use by partisan forces. Contains three Bolt Action Order Dice and the following Warlord Resin Plus figures:
    • 2-man Light Mortar team
    • 2-man Sniper team
    • 2-man PIAT team

The most useful kinds of light artillery were often mountain guns, as these were more easily moved about and could be disassembled and carried by mules if necessary. All kinds of artillery would be used. The old World War I French 75mm field gun was one of the most common artillery pieces used by many nations at the start of the war, and no doubt a number fell into the hands of partisan forces. The exceptional men and women of the French Resistance were fiercely patriotic citizens who risked everything to fight back against the occupying German Forces. From sowing disinformation or assassinating German personnel and collaborators, to direct attacks on German infrastructure, they prevented thousands of German troops from fighting the Allies on the frontlines. Armed with captured German weaponry, Allied supplied guns and their own local shotguns and hunting rifles, the Maquis made good use of their intimate knowledge of their homeland to keep the German forces on guard, unsure where or when the next guerilla attack would come. Bolt Action Polish Infantry Squad in Greatcoats

Bolt Action: Polish Infantry Squad in Greatcoats

    , ,
Despite facing the double invasion of their homeland in 1939 by both Germany and the Soviet Union, the vastly outnumbered Polish military fought with bravery and tenacity. The Polish army in 1939 was large, well-officered and relatively well-equipped. It fought hard, but was entirely outmanoeuvred by fast-moving German armoured thrusts supported by all arms in a new dynamic style of war that a largely foot-slogging Polish army could not match. When the Soviets joined the fight and also invaded Poland, bisecting the country, it was too much for an already over-extended army short of armour and air support to hold out against – the end was inevitable. The Poles put up a dogged resistance to the two invading forces despite, in some cases, being utterly outnumbered. There were many desperate actions where the Poles fought the invaders to a standstill, and the stoic infantry held their ground whilst their dashing Polish cavalry caught the enemy by surprise. Equipped with Mauser rifles, great coats, and standard polish uniform. Warlord sculptor Wojtek brought these heroes to life in full kit, fighting in the early autumn of 1939. Contains a metal 10-man Polish Infantry Squad:
    • 1 NCO with rifle
    • 1 soldier with automatic rifle
    • 8 riflemen

Bolt Action: Polish Army Support Group

    , ,
Polish HQ Considering the country’s location and involvement in major European conflicts for centuries, Polish officers came from a society that valued a proud military tradition. After the end of World War I, having freshly wrested its independence from neighboring powers, Poland was in a state of almost constant conflict. Most of the officers in Poland’s military were experienced and capable leaders. Polish Medium Machine Gun Team An almost exact copy of the American M1917 machine gun, the Polish military fielded its CKM wz.30 machine gun in a fashion similar to that of other European nations. It fired a 7.92mm round, like those utilized by most riflemen. Several thousand of these were produced for Poland’s armed forces during the build-up to World War II. The CKM Hotchkiss wz.14 was also used as was the CKM Maxim. Polish Medium Mortar Team Poland made use of 81mm mortars of similar design to most other nations at the time. These weapons were not as commonplace in the Polish Army as they were in other forces. Nonetheless, when available, they proved a reliable firing platform for the Polish crews manning them.
